IFA Mobile 2T

As a member of the club you not only get help with keeping your car on the road, but also with things like restoring it

For two quarters of a century, the two-branches happily been clubbing around in the club IFA Mobile 2Takt association. While those twenty-five past years were already a party for this group, the anniversary will be an even bigger party for the Trabant, Wartburg, Barkas, Zwickau, Framo, IFA en Melkus enthusiasts are unparalleled.

Like for example the VAG group, IFA Mobile was an umbrella organization of vehicle construction in the GDR. The East German car industry maintained the 2-stroke concept until well into the 1980s, as a result of which the cars in the Netherlands from 1974 were no longer sold via the official importer. In the 1980s, however, new copies from Belgium were registered in the Netherlands.

The necessity for a club was great in 1986, because the parts for the simmering fleet were not always easy to find. The club currently has a loyal following of several hundred members. They find help with keeping their car moving or restoring it. Not only because of the enormous know-how that is present in the club, but also because of the extensive parts warehouse, where members can find cheap parts.
