Purchasing classics there

Johan Deinum is a Peugeot specialist in Joure, Friesland. He doesn't live in the past, but still likes to look in the 'rear-view mirror' regularly. His range of beautiful modern used cars is large and his daily work in maintenance and repair is also completely up to date. Classics and vintage cars. We like to pay attention to his Peugeot 402 Darl'Mat Roadster from 1938.

By: Dirk de Jong

He finds it a pleasure to look back at the slower, but oh so beautiful time, and you can see that in his showroom where various classics and old-timers are shining. At a glance you can see a Peugeot 504, a 203 Fourgonette, a Peugeot 302, a 202 Dépanage and a 404. The history of Peugeot passes you by.

Amazing private museum

His showroom is also a private museum, the funny thing is that many visitors had no idea what Peugeot produced. It ranges from household items to mopeds and Peugeot trinkets, all of which come into their own here. In his beautiful collection even a beautiful Peugeot 404 as a pedal car, which appeals to many. (It's youth sentiment, after all.)

Peugeot 402 Darl'Mat Roadster from 1938

As true enthusiasts, we would like to pay attention to a very special authentic Peugeot, such as this Special Sport Roadster. Only 402 of this Peugeot 1938 Darl'Mat Roadster (53) were made and it is almost logical to say that there are only a few copies left. This fascinating Peugeot was designed by Emile Darl'Mat who maintained close contacts with the Peugeot factory.

Boosting the Peugeot image

The aim of this project was to enhance the Peugeot image with a very special version in a unique aerodynamic styling with a sporty spirited engine. The fantastic shape was drawn by Georges Paulin and made of aluminum sheet by Marcel Pourtout. These two creative gentlemen had also contributed to the Peugeot that introduced the Eclipse at the World Exhibition in Chicago. (The first retracting roof system).

Johan: “I can't stop talking about classics and old-timers, the Peugeot 402 Darl'Mat Roadster (1938) is so beautiful and so rare. Moreover, this roadster in the showroom often leads to nice conversations. This Peugeot is clearly of the exclusive category, an undisputed showpiece.”

Without past no future

Fortunately, you can still find them at Johan Deinum, the classics and old-timers from a street scene from bygone times. But what appeals to us is that he cares about the riding heritage and is committed to preserving it. And he ensures – through the sale – that the original classics and old-timers remain on the road. Do you also want that feeling of ecstasy? Then a trip to Joure is recommended!

  1. No Henk, the first Peugeots did not have a Dion Bouton engine, but a Daimler engine.
These Daimler engines were built under license by Panhard & Levassor from 1892 to 1896.
After 1896 Peugeot had its own engines.

  2. What a beauty! Peugeot is a brand with history and beautiful vehicles. Too bad about the quality of some model generations and that while Peugeot was once known as the French Mercedes.

  3. A friend of mine in Elburg has a 402 Berline Legere, of which 6 are made as a convertible-limousine, and it has an electric Cotal gearbox with overdrive.
I believe this is the same chassis with the big engine as d'arlmat used.

  4. Beautiful collection!
    Nice brand too.
A good friend of mine, it comes very close, knows someone who has the very first Peugeot with its own Peugeot engine. After all, the first Peugeots were built with Dion Bouton engines.

  5. Ask your. Where is the 402 Darl Mat in the Le Mans race version?
Used to be in the D&V Peugeot garage in Rekem Belgium
Had no doors; I still remember that, it was sold cheaply to the Netherlands.
Peugeot itself has none in the museum.
