In the cold days of December, 15.900 visitors came together at the RETRO CLASSICS BAVARIA® 2023 in Nuremberg to share a passion for classic cars. Without last year's popular SimRacing, this seventh edition was entirely dedicated to tangible automotive history.
A dive into tuning history
The exhibition 'Tiefer, breiter, schneller – the Tuning Icons of the 80s and 90s' was a nostalgic journey back in time. More than 20 vehicles, including a VW Scirocco in 'Testarossa-Look', a Ford Capri Turbo with gull-wing doors, and 'Berties Manta' from the film 'Manta Manta Teil Zwo', attracted a lot of attention.
Rallying legends and the glory of motorsport
The Rallye-Legenden-Cup presented the top of European rallying from the eighties and nineties. Classics such as the Lancia Stratos, Audi Quattro and Opel Ascona 400 could be admired. Rally legend Walter Röhrl and Gerhard Müller provided an unforgettable moment with their autogrammstunden.
Erich Bitter: a German motorsport legend
2023 also marked the 90th birth anniversary of Erich Bitter, a leading figure in the German automotive industry. His 'Erstlingswerk', the Bitter CD, debuted 50 years ago. These milestones were celebrated with a unique exhibition of his works.
Intertrab eV: an East German Auto-Ode
Intertrab eV brought an impressive collection of Trabants, rare prototypes and racing cars from MZ. This was a foretaste of the growing focus on East German cars in future events.
A pearl of German automotive history
A special highlight was the 250 Ferrari 1961 GT, previously owned by racing legend Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips, presented by Mertel Italo Cars Nürnberg.
RETRO NIGHT®: a party of rock and cars
The first evening of the event ended with the RETRO NIGHT®, where the rock band 'Race Cats' created an energetic atmosphere.
Satisfaction everywhere
The positive responses from both visitors and exhibitors reflected the success of the event. Sales of classic cars exceeded expectations, underscoring the vibrancy and passion within the community.
Looking to the future
All in all, the RETRO CLASSICS BAVARIA® 2023 was an event that made the hearts of car enthusiasts beat faster. And the good news? The next edition is already planned for December 6 to 8, 2024!
