The 2023 Essen Motor Show, held from December 2 to 10, was a vibrant event that attracted more than 200.000 visitors. With around 500 exhibitors and a range of sporting vehicles and accessories, the show was a true showcase of both classic and modern automotive technologies.
A stage for innovation and performance
The show highlighted the enduring fascination with cars, regardless of drive technology. Oliver P. Kuhrt, director of Messe Essen, praised the show's 'open technology approach', which was clearly appreciated by both exhibitors and audiences. Harald Schmidtke, director of the Association of Automobile Tuners, noted that visitor numbers remained at the same high level as last year, with strong purchasing interest.
Photogenic vehicles and celebrity visits
The Lamborghini SC63, presented by KW Automotive and JP Kraemer, was one of the most photographed vehicles. Other popular photo opportunities included the NASCAR anniversary exhibition, the Daihatsu Hijet “Kevin”, and the award-winning Mercurius GTC from tuningXperience. Visits from celebrities such as Sidney Hoffmann and former BVB players Kevin Großkreutz and Patrick Owomoyela added extra allure to the event.
Positive feedback from exhibitors
Contestants on the show, including Dr. Karl-Friedrich Ziegahn from the Deutscher Sportfahrer Kreis, emphasized the importance of the Essen Motor Show for networking and showcasing their services. With 96% of exhibitors happy with attendance and 94% already planning to return, the show was undoubtedly a success.
Tuning market in the spotlight
The BBE Automotive study, presented at the show, revealed interesting insights about the tuning market. With a market value of more than two billion euros in Germany alone, models from German manufacturers such as BMW, Audi, VW and Mercedes-Benz dominate the scene. This emphasizes the healthy state and dynamics of the tuning industry.
