RM Sotheby's takes a surprise to InterClassics in Maastricht. During the Interclassics maastricht in the MECC, the auction house adds to the main theme with a rare masterpiece. Those in charge still keep a secret which classic they are taking to the capital of Limburg. They do lift a tip of the veil. The top piece is related to the name giver of the illustrious brand that celebrates the 2017 anniversary in March 70: Ferrari.
The 12 edition of the classic festival will take place in Maastricht from 15 to 2017 February. As is now known, the organizers chose Ferrari's 70th anniversary as the main theme. In 1947, Ferrari built its first road car: the Ferrari 125 S. However, Ferrari had been active in the automotive industry for some time. After a period of six years at Alfa Romeo, Enzo Ferrari founded the Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. He achieved many victories with the racing cars of Alfa Romeo. Ferrari went its own way a few years before World War II. He founded the Auto Avio Costruzioni. In 1943, Ferrari moved its factory to Maranello, where the illustrious brand is still domiciled.
The first street car
From that base, Ferrari launched the first street car in 1947, as said. In the seventy years that followed - among other things - enchanting GTOs, Superamericas, 2 + 2 versions, Daytonas, Californias, Testarossas, Maranellos and GTBs appeared on the scene. The Italians also built an impressive reputation in the Formula 1. In Maastricht, the organization reflects on the impressive history of the Maranello brand. A beautiful collection from the Enzo Ferrari era will be exhibited during InterClassics Maastricht, including the Ferrari 250GT SWB Berlinetta Competitione from 1960, the 166 MM and the F40. The Ferrari 500 Superfast Speziale from Prince Bernhard will also be on display, as we mentioned earlier.
