Purchasing classics there

Nothing is more beautiful than capturing the stories of people with a heart for cars, who want to promote their historical value. These people, of all ages, walks of life, arouse enthusiasm mainly because of their passion. Today it is Jan and his enthusiasm is about the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow from 1980.

The discovery of the over-40s

Together with a friend, he discovered this beautiful piece of craftsmanship in England in 2011. It didn't stop at looking; After purchase, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was driven to the Netherlands, accompanied by envious looks along the way. This proves that special cars with an undeniable appeal can still be found in unexpected places. They inspire passion in owners and spectators alike. Because what could be more fun than admiring a Rolls-Royce up close, perhaps sitting behind the wheel and chatting with the proud owner?

Passion for British chic

Jan: “For me it is important that a classic triggers something in you. It evokes warm feelings; Driving this British beauty is a joy. During beautiful summer days we like to go for rides, where a friendly atmosphere is always present. You notice that people are looking at the Rolls on the road, and I'm happy to make room for that. I see fellow road users, and certainly enthusiasts, as good acquaintances. This provides a unique driving experience, in which the pride of the owner plays an important role. It is clear that the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is maintained with care; it has withstood the test of time and exudes a nostalgic atmosphere as a person over forty.”

Pure luxury

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was not a cheap car when new, but those who could afford it got pure luxury with a V8 engine. Now, as a classic, the price is very attractive; you don't have to wait for the main prize in the lottery. The statue on the nose of the Rolls-Royce, the Spirit of Ecstasy, has adorned the English sedan for more than 100 years.

Advice from Jan

When the car is parked, it is advisable to take the statue with you. The Rolls can only steal the show when it is complete.

We love old cars because they remind us of an era that has passed. They had more character and personality. This Rolls-Royce even has a regal character. We strive for something unique, and we find that in a classic or vintage car. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow represents British nobility for Jan; it deserves an honorary title, but as a person over forty, you don't need white gloves or a bowler hat to have fun with it.

We continue to promote the historical value! Every article in Auto Motor Klassiek contributes to the preservation of these rolling works of art, as a tribute to the past.

  1. Cheap to purchase and unaffordable to maintain.
Most units therefore have a lot of overdue maintenance, 45 years after production date.
With 250 hp from 6,7 liters, most American cars were a lot more powerful at the time.
Too bad the headlight wipers are missing. The beautiful series 1 bumper was unfortunately also replaced in the second half of the 70s by a visually less attractive one.
