Chrome exhaust pipes and silencers cannot withstand very high temperatures. And the temperature of exhaust gases can be very high; a properly tuned four-stroke engine has an exhaust gas temperature of more than 600 degrees. If the fuel mixture becomes very lean, it will become much hotter... And the pipes will discolor, first to a beautiful dull gold color, then to blue.

Foliatec is an innovative German paint manufacturer. The company makes, among other things, a lacquer film that can simply be peeled off later. Nice if you don't want to make your classic orange forever... But their heat-resistant 2K exhaust paint suits us better. The two components are in 1 spray can, mixing is done by shaking (very) vigorously. The black chrome look that is the end result works well on exhaust parts, including manifolds.
