James Duck

Purchasing classics there

In For your eyes only, 007 is being chased in a 2CV by crooks in Peugeot 504s. To make that chase somewhat credible, James' escape car had to be done. That 'making a film' happened in Slough, England.

Three Super Ducks were prepared for the film. The whole thing was on a chassis of an Ami Super 8 and a very serious roll cage was mounted on that platform. The seats and full harness seat belts came from Hillman. The engine was an 1015 cc GS block so that the speed could in any case be kept credible. To limit the damage during stunting, a steel 'ski' ran under block and box.

The GS four-cylinder boxer block gave headaches in the sense that a special exhaust system had to be manufactured to make the exhaust sound a bit like that of an 2CV.

The 500CV 2 - first in an edition of only 007 pieces, which was initially reserved for France only - was not as sound as it should be.

The car distinguished itself by its color, the square headlights and stickers. The stickers were supplied separately, including the adhesive pattern for the 'bullet holes'.

Oh yes: The Real 007 Duck was equipped with adjustable Koni shock absorbers.
