The chance is small that you will encounter this special car on the road, but fortunately in the columns of Auto Motor Klassiek. This ZAZ is not only to look at, but also to drive. It has been restored to a truly beautiful condition.
By: Dirk de Jong
The leaflet in the glove box says it is amazingly manoeuvrable and can devour long distances. In the 70s it was economical to maintain, the engine was air-cooled. A real spacious car for four people that was easily accessible through the wide doors. The hymn continued: a car with a refined line, young and up-to-date, sharp and fast.
The story behind the car
His love for Russian cars started with the purchase of a Lada 2105. This was followed by a red 2104 from 1990 (which is now driven daily). Every now and then he finds a nice classic abroad to fix up and then sell it again, because it's fun and also to finance the hobby.
The ZAZ sedan
If there is a model that promotes social contacts, it is this special mini. There are countless oldtimer/classic enthusiasts, almost every type has its own club, with the exception of this model. Why? Hardly anyone knows the model, and the question is whether it was ever officially imported. Johan has to explain it countless times, people look with admiration at this car that does not bring back memories of times gone by.
Latvia
Johan: “The car was imported from Latvia and according to the information, only a handful are registered. Some things come your way without you looking for them. This car was in a very nice condition, expertly restored and I can distinguish myself with this. You can see a time image of the 70s on this classic. It underlines the development of technology at that time. He also provides insight into the design, I can clearly see the pontoon model of the NSU Prinz in it. It is a hobby for me to keep the Lada 2104 and my ZAZ sedan in good condition.”
Enjoy
The nice thing is that Johan lets other classic enthusiasts enjoy his special property. Just look, touch and of course take pictures or even sit in it for a while. A bonus for Johan: If others enjoy it, he can also enjoy the attention for his special property.

Nice, I knew this model, but yes, I myself have had a Prinz 4 since the beginning of this year
An acquaintance of mine visited Belarus for a few days last month from Poland. He photographed a similar ZAZ there; bright yellow, this car with big ears.
From the Zaporozhye automobile factory at the time, came “the child with the big ears”.
Zaporozhye, indeed, it is now in the news…
Scaldia, not Scandinavia…..
Nice article
But I would appreciate that the grammar would also be a bit up to date
The ZAZ was indeed imported to the Netherlands by Gremi in Groningen.
At the time also importer of Scandinavia, Yalta and later Lada.
There was a dealer in Dwingeloo: garage Kamphof in Eemster.
Scandinavia? Make it Scaldia!
