Duck on the water, they dared
Lovers of the Citroën 2 CV will look somewhat surprised at this picture. A Duck was launched on 15 in March 1961 on Keizersgracht in Amsterdam, according to the coverage on the back of the photo from our 'banana box'. The fire brigade has the Duck on the water hanging in the hoists and while the car is still leaking, there is apparently 'work consultation' taking place. Those men were brave enough, because if you take a good look at it, they have 'docked' to the towing eyes of the chassis. And those usually broke - and break - quickly ... Those Duck lovers will have noticed that the Duck in question has a - let's call it - a 'third window' while a 'ridge bonnet' is mounted on the front ... all, because this is an AZL3 assembled in Belgium in 1958. They were screwed together in the town of Vorst.
Photo: The towing eyes on the chassis of a Duck, extremely vulnerable. They dared to do this then ...
