The Monkey, the Dax and other little grits in AMK

The Honda Monkey got its pet name because the rider was sitting on it like a monkey. Now the Japanese minibikes had actually started their lives as a fun idea for the kids in an amusement park, the sizes explained that. But also among adults, they became popular as a sensible alternative to cycling.

Simply: At the back of the camper

The small motorcycles were soon discovered in the States to serve as a transport between anything and everything on circuits. The fact that they could just be taken with the rest of the stuff you need to race for a weekend was absolutely good.

But also on a broader recreational level the Hondas with dwarfism got their tires on the ground. Because if such a thing is useful to function as a shopping bike on the circuit, then he can also go on holiday on the back of the camper.

In a somewhat later, fairly recent phase, these micromotors were also discovered by today's youth. This was partly due to the unprecedented flow of cheap China clones that flooded the universe.

The China clones

Those 'copy paste' are Chinese and of course do not become classics. Their quality is also generally well below that of the Japanese originals from the years 60-70. Nevertheless, they do not have to give their brand new owners less pleasure and the Chinese approach has ensured that there are sufficient technical parts for the small Hondas for the next hundred years. And we know more than one Honda minibike enthusiast who has neatly preserved his original engine block and drives around with an 70 cc Bami block.

Real or counterfeit?

Original Honda minibikes now have their price. The copies offered here are almost always from abroad. Recent to brand new specimens from China are still as classic in terms of construction and appearance as their small examples. And sometimes just as economical. 1 on 60 + must be feasible for an 50 cc. The SkyTeam Dax is available in 50, 70 and 125 cc. When purchasing such a Chinese person, it makes sense to first carefully check the whole thing. The Chinese do not always tighten everything (even). And the importer simply sells his goods in the crate so that the buyer can assemble himself. Nice.

Crumbly text

There is an instruction booklet, the English text of which is just as shaky as that of the Japanese in the sixties: Skyteam Motorcycle, famous for it's reasonable design, advanced process and beautiful appearance, are sold well at home and abroad, and are highly appraised by old and new customers. Skyteam motorcycle, as an ideal riding tool instead of walk and a light-duty transportation tool, will provide happiness for your work.

Such a Honda clump is really rougher across the board than the original. And the cheapest way to go faster? Keeping the knees together while driving gives an aerodynamic advantage and makes the Dax just 5 km faster.

Real or counterfeit?

It doesn't matter for pleasure. Not for the 'looks' either. For the price it is. When purchasing such a crazy Honda, make sure it is a real Honda. A lot of Chinese are bravely decorated with original Honda stickers.
