The artificial lab and classics

'Kunstlab'. Doesn't that sound like bubbling retorts and gushing meters? That was not that bad. During a walk through Doesburg, walking into VVC (Association of Creatives) Kunstlab Doesburg was a fluke.

The members of the Kunstlab are hobby artists and craftsmen

And that is meant positively. The 'painter, draw and make whatever you like, or learn to make it (also with textile work forms)' club has about sixty members and is of course a very good place to get through the winter. Every month there is a new exhibition of the work of the members of the Kunstlab Doesburg. It is then in the building where the association also provides training and where members can practice arts. There is an art loan from 'own work'. And you can buy things there.

Our interest was drawn by a couple of paintings - they are something of thirty by thirty - of classics. And so we came on the trail of Marc Veenhuis from Zelhem.

Marc Veenhuis was born in Amersfoort and settled in the Achterhoek after a long stay in North-East Groningen. Halfway through the 80 he made a number of oil paintings in black and white with many rocks, stones, columns etc, themes that still occasionally occur in his paintings.

A quarter century break

After 1986, no paint stroke appeared from 25 for years, a long pause that lasted until 2011. The paintworks are almost all of the 30 x 30 cm format ('just because this is a practical format') and are recognizable by the striking colors, circles and delicate lines. They are painted with oil or acrylic paint.

We like his work so much that we want to share it.

The rest of his paintings can be found at  www.instagram.com/cliedercarnut/
Many have been sold (Steve Head, English driver and car art collector has bought 11 of them, including a number of assignments, 3 to America, 1 to New Zealand etc.), exchanged or given away to friends and family. But of course the works are also for sale to Dutch people.

And the Kunstlab in Doesburg - www.kunstlabdoesburg.nl - is located at Ooipoortstraat 35, 6981DT.
