Everyone knows the Ford T-model, the legendary car that became a huge success all over the world. But what about the Ford Model TT? Although this car is less well known, it still made a great impression, as it was the precursor of modern vans and pick-ups, including the current Transit.

The first introduction of the Ford model tt took place 100 years ago. The one-ton Ford model was the first delivery van to be developed for a special purpose and adapted to different transport needs.

Various construction options

Nowadays the commercial vehicle manufacturers and suppliers offer a wide range of possibilities for variation. But 100 years ago it was special that the basis of a vehicle could serve as a starting point for numerous uses. Owners could provide the chassis with various mounting options to transport all kinds of things, from letters to fuel. The delivery van was introduced in the United States. However, many copies were also built in Europe, in Manchester in the United Kingdom.

Modern rear tires instead of solid rubber

The TT model was longer and stronger than the T model. It had a cabin with space for the driver and one passenger. The engine was started using a crank at the front. For a more enjoyable ride, customers could opt for modern pneumatic rear tires instead of solid rubber. Ford now offers the best-selling commercial vehicle range in Europe. It supplies the Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Connect, Transit Courier and Ranger pick-up.

  1. Great thing. But certainly not the first delivery van. I happen to know that Renault already built a delivery van in 1900 and there must have been other brands.
