Opel enthusiasts are no different from other car enthusiasts, you have them in different types, just like the many Opel models. This owner has clearly been involved in the reconstruction of the classic Opel Rekord P2 model.

The 60s started for Opel with the Rekord P2. This is a mid-sized model based on American standards, which was introduced to the market in various versions. They have been there, for example, in a two and four-door version, but also as a station wagon and even later as a coupé with a sloping roof line. You will not find this last variant much more.
The information on the windshield indicates that the Opel is from 1961 and that the owner Albert Wekema completely dismantled the car in 2017. After that, it was blasted and finally given a new coat of paint, both the inside / outside and the underside. Parts were replaced where necessary. And because it had to be original, intensive (successful) searches were undertaken. At the classic events you can experience that the audience is still full of praise for the tight-lined mid-sized Opel from the sixties.
Also interesting:
- Opel Commodore GS - a very beautiful one
- And further: Opel Olympia A: the sympathetic luxury brother of the Kadett B
- But also: Opel Ascona 16S - gloriously the best?
- And also Opel Rekord
Beautiful car with a less pleasant memory of my youth for me. My father died in an accident in 1963 between Goes and Bergen op Zoom in this Opel model. Yet my greatest wish is still to be able to buy 1. An ignorant thought for some, not for me.
